Nature Inspiration Day
June 6, 2026
Nature Inspiration Day is a celebration of curiosity, creativity–and the woods and meadow on Kaisertown’s Buffalo River. With guided nature walks, kid-friendly learning, and hands-on art projects throughout Houghton Park and the Houghton Conservation Area, the BNRLT welcomes families to discover how fun—and important—caring for our natural spaces can be. The event blends hands-on outdoor education, guided walks, creative art stations, and family-friendly activities that spark curiosity and a connection to nature.
This day reflects BNRLT’s mission: protecting and restoring the lands that shape our region’s waterways—and ensuring everyone can enjoy and care for them.
Fall Fest
October 8, 2026
Fall Fest is the Buffalo Niagara River Land Trust’s annual fall fundraiser, bringing our community together for an unforgettable evening at Duende at Silo City. Set against Buffalo’s iconic grain silos on the Buffalo River, the celebration features seasonal food and drink, live music, and the warmth of shared purpose. Proceeds support our work to protect, restore, and care for Western New York’s waterfronts—places that connect neighborhoods, nurture wildlife, and invite people outside. Fall Fest is a chance to celebrate the season, enjoy good company, and invest in a healthier, more vibrant waterfront future for our region.
Eco-Expeditions
Eco Expeditions are hands-on community science events where participants help identify and document plants and wildlife. Participants deepen understanding of local ecosystems, build skills, and gather valuable data that supports land protection and restoration. Eco Expeditions are welcoming, educational, and fun, offering people of all ages a meaningful way to connect with nature while learning care for Western New York’s waterfronts and green spaces.
Conservation Conversations
Conservation Conversations bring neighbors and experts together to explore reclaiming and restoring Western New York’s waterfronts. Through engaging conversations, the series highlights efforts to clean, protect, and steward these places in trust—ensuring public access, environmental health, and shared community pride for generations to come.
Spruce ups
Hands-on “spruce ups” and planting days that invite volunteers to care for our protected lands while learning about these properties, habitat health, and the history of each site. Together, we’ll “spruce it up and leaf it better”!
