What experience led you to where you are today at the land trust?
“When I moved back to Buffalo after being in Colorado for my entire adult life… I wanted to get involved in the industry and in the community. I wanted to build a network here so I joined ULI…After doing the Riverline tour, we were at Duende, and Adam (Walters) was talking about the land trust and looking for board members. It sounded like something that I was really interested in, as well as something I could contribute to in a meaningful way.”
What is your interest in the land trust? Why are you here? What do you hope to accomplish?
“The opportunity to create spaces for the community to come together as a 'third space'… the water in western New York is a true unique gem… the land trust taking that and making it more accessible to the public is really important. I hope to contribute to helping with that mission.”
What’s your favorite part about being on this board?
“I really like getting to know other people in the community that have the same goal as me. We’re all working together for a common purpose.”
What is the significance of the place you chose to meet?
“This is the first place I remember going to along the water as a child. I grew up coming here with my grandparents. Being along the creek… it’s such a special place to spend time.”
“I just like relaxing outside. Finding a meadow and looking at the flowers, reading. I like slowing down and observing my surroundings.
What is your favorite outdoor activity?
What brings you joy?
“Being in a special place with people I love… Spending time without the pressures of the world.”
If you could have any superpower what would it be?
“Teleportation, because there are just so many amazing places to see… Japan is at the top of my list. Australia has always been high on my list too. Those are big examples but it would also give back so much time that could be spent elsewhere.”
What is your favorite season?
“Late Spring… when the leaves are finally out and it’s getting warm. And you still have the promise of the whole summer ahead of you.”
