Hometown North Tonawanda
What is the significance of the location where you chose to meet?
“This is a building project I've been involved with for 8 years now, a brownfield in a designated BOA area, that had the opportunity to really reimagine and expand the downtown of North Tonawanda… It’s 100% cleaned and we’ve leveraged that cleanup to install green infrastructure…all of the storm water management is handled on the site. We then created a 21st century version of a historic building in a way that is leading edge on sustainable systems, and a model of really great development practice”
What is a favorite memory you have while on the BNRLT board?
“My first time at Houghton Park was for a clean up, and I got to really see how magnificent that landscape was and how degraded it was. So we came back the next year and I created this found art installation project from the trash during the clean up…bring attention to what’s actually being dumped here in a way that was whimsical using the framework of art as a way to talk about it.”
What is your favorite outdoor activity?
“When I’m not inside I’m usually in the garden… I also just love to hike and be outside. My husband and I love to take trips where can we go explore unique and even hard to get to landscapes .”
“What really brings me a lot of joy is when other people have their a-ha moments…to create empowerment opportunities for them to step into.”
What brings you joy?
What is your favorite season?
“I love the abundance of summer”
If you could have any superpower what would it be?
“to be tall! To have the capacity to get tall and then get small”
Future projects or anything you’re working on that you want to promote?
“Our building has space to rent, so if you have a need for workshare space or office space, and if sustainability is really part of who you are, then we want you to come here… I've transitioned out of design and my current work is training design professionals and municipal leaders to use team building as client engagement.”
