In 2026, the Buffalo Niagara River Land Trust secured a conservation easement to permanently protect and restore the site.

Working closely with our Trustees and the community, BNRLT is developing a master plan to transform the property into a thriving natural habitat with walking trails and other public amenities. Located along Fuhrmann Boulevard across from Buffalo's Outer Harbor, City Ship Canal is a 5-acre waterfront property owned by CSX Transportation.
