Development Coordinator 

The Buffalo Niagara River Land Trust seeks a full-time Development Coordinator. This position works under limited supervision, reporting to the Executive Director. The Development Coordinator will play a key role in advancing the BNRLT’s mission by supporting the organization's fundraising initiatives. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate the vision, mission, and strategy to stakeholders/potential donors

  • Uphold the Land Trust Alliance Standard 5 - Conduct fundraising activities in a lawful, ethical, and responsible manner 

  • Manage the donor database using GiveButter, accurate data entry, donation recording and tracking

  • Research and identify grant opportunities 

  • Assist in coordinating annual appeal 

  • Responsible for timely donor acknowledgement and stewardship 

  • Solicit corporate sponsorships and related benefits 

  • Organize a paid membership program with outreach and annual meetings 

  • Assist in the planning and support of an annual fundraising event 

  • Responsible for development and implementation of annual development plan 

  • Create complementary development and community engagement plans 

  • Regularly report on plan progress to Executive Director 

  • Participate in board committees as required 

  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills 

  • At least 3 years relevant experience in nonprofit management and fund development

  • Proven track-record and success in cultivating, soliciting, and securing donations 

  • Experience in fund development strategies, including major gifts, digital giving,appeals, planned giving, special events, corporate, foundation, and government support 

  • Experience in working with a board and volunteers 

  • Ability to build long-term relationships and effectively relate to a wide range of stakeholders

  • Lead and implement communication strategies to promote BNRLT as a whole 

  • Ability to multitask and carry a project to completion with limited supervision 

  • Willingness to work as a team member to meet common goals 

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 

  • Excellent writing and editing capabilities 

  • Education and/or experience commensurate with position 

  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google suite 

Details

  • Pay range: $26-$28/hour 

  • Full time: 40 hours/week
